Active Oxfordshire are launching the Active 60 campaign to ensure that every child in Oxfordshire can achieve 60 active minutes, every day.
In 2019, 48% of children in our county were not getting enough exercise. On top of this, physical activity levels for children have plummeted following Covid-19, with only 19% of children meeting Chief Medical Officer guidelines of 60 active minutes a day.
In Oxfordshire, we are fortunate to have vast green spaces, great physical activity schemes and a County which loves to cycle and walk on the many cycle paths and walks that we have to offer. Find all your local opportunities to get children and their families active below:
FAST - Activities for Families
The FAST (Families Active Sporting Together) programme is a brilliant way to get the whole family involved in physical activity. The programme offers FREE and significantly reduced priced physical activity opportunities within Banbury, Kidlington and Bicester. All you need to do is apply for the FAST card!
Parks and Open Spaces
Whether you are looking for open spaces, recreation grounds, play areas for older and younger children or just your local neighbourhood park to venture down to. All of Oxfordshire's districts have dedicated pages for you to find your nearest outdoor space.
GO Active Outdoors
Oxford City's newest GO Active programme aims to outline all the information you need to get active outdoors within the Oxford area including green spaces, parks and waterways. Oxford has six fit trails which are FREE to everyone. All you need to do is download the map and off you go!
Walking and Cycling
Walking or cycling are great ways to get children and families active. This can either be recreationally for fun or why not trying actively travelling to school or the shops? Oxfordshire has great health walk routes and plenty of cycle routes to choose from.
