Partner Organisations Activities

As well as GO Active there are a number or organisations who organise local opportunities to get active. Please note, these are not delivered under the GO Active programme.

Tea Dances

Dancing has been shown to reduce stress and tension for the mind and body and also prevents heart disease. It has also been known to increase muscular strength, endurance, coordination and flexibility.

Sounds great, doesn't it?

Women's Walking Football

Women's Walking Football

Walking Football is a fantastic way to keep fit and to socialise within a team environment as well.

If you are female, over the age of 35 and wish to get / keep fit by playing football.

You don't need to have played football before; it could be a fresh start and a new way of getting regular exercise.

If there is enough interest the Walking Football team will try and arrange specific female only sessions at the Oxford Academy, Sandy Lane West where training takes place.

Meanwhile the Walking Football team remains open to all.

GoodGym Oxford

GoodGym arrives in Oxford

Come and find out how you can do good and get fit in Oxford. Each week the GoodGym will be running to support some great charities and community groups all over the city. You'll run, complete a task, and run back all within 90 minutes. You'll get fit, help out and meet some great new people. You'll also be able to find out about all the great work GoodGym do with older people tackling social isolation and loneliness.

For the launch run (Wednesday 20th February, 6pm from East Oxford Community Centre) , GoodGym Oxford will be running to help sort out the store room for the pre-school at Donnington Doorstep Family Centre. The pre-school is a fun, stimulating, play-focused and welcoming indoor & outdoor setting where children are able to follow their own ideas, supported by well-qualified and caring adults. Let's help them get their storage in order!

GoodGym Oxford meets every Wednesday evening, 6.00pm, at the East Oxford Community Centre. There are toilets, changing facilities and a space to store bags while out on the run. The group will aim to leave for the run at 6:15pm.

GoodGym welcomes runners of all abilities. All runs are backmarked and they'll never leave anyone behind. Don't be shy, they're a very friendly bunch.
